A private podcast feed for the things you want to hear.
Your listening, alongside the podcasts you already follow.
A private podcast feed is an RSS address shared with a limited audience instead of published in a directory. SimpleListen gives you a hard-to-guess, unlisted feed for narrated articles, emails and notes.
Create your listening feed ↗How it works
- 1
Create your listening feed
Sign into SimpleListen to get your default feed. Create additional feeds for different topics, and choose cover initials, a color and a voice for each.
- 2
Add the feed to your podcast app
Choose Add to podcast app in SimpleListen. Use its Apple Podcasts or Overcast link, or copy the private RSS address into another player that supports adding a feed by URL.
- 3
Send something you want to hear
Paste text, submit an article, forward an email or use a connected agent. Completed episodes appear in the same feed, ready for your player’s next refresh.
Private means an unlisted link
SimpleListen feed URLs contain long random tokens and are not submitted to public podcast directories. Your podcast player can fetch them without signing into SimpleListen. That convenience depends on treating the URL as a secret.
Anyone who receives a feed or media URL can open it. Audio and cover images use public, unlisted URLs; this is not end-to-end encryption. Podcast players may download or cache copies. Do not use the prototype for highly sensitive material.
Choose a player that can add a feed by URL
SimpleListen offers Apple Podcasts and Overcast subscription links, plus a copyable RSS address. In Apple Podcasts, use the option to follow a show by URL when adding manually. Other podcast apps vary in whether they accept custom feeds.
The SimpleListen web player is available if your preferred service cannot add a private RSS feed. New episodes appear after generation finishes and your player refreshes; a public directory listing is not needed.
Resetting a link and deleting an episode
If a feed address is exposed, use Reset feed & inbox addresses in feed settings. This replaces the feed and email tokens. Update the subscription in your podcast app after a reset, because the old feed link stops working.
Resetting a feed does not revoke previously shared audio URLs or remove downloaded copies. Deleting an episode removes it from your active SimpleListen feed and storage, but third-party caches and downloads may remain.

Questions about private podcast feeds
Is my feed searchable in podcast directories?
SimpleListen does not submit your feed to public directories. The address contains a hard-to-guess token. Someone who has the URL can still access or share it.
Can I use more than one private feed?
Yes. Create separate feeds with their own voices, artwork settings and email addresses. The current prototype allows up to ten feeds per account.
Does resetting a feed remove old downloads?
No. Resetting invalidates the old feed address, but cannot erase copies already downloaded or cached by a podcast app. It also does not revoke existing media URLs.
