Who we are
SimpleListen is operated by Vladimir Haltakov. We are responsible for the personal information processed through this service. For privacy questions or requests, email [email protected].
Information we use
We store your email address and account details, plus your name and profile image if provided by a sign-in service. We also store your feed settings, voice preferences, connected-agent authorizations and episode history.
When you submit material, we process its text, title, source URL, language and any script prepared for narration. This includes content sent through the website, API, CLI, connected agents and, when enabled, email forwarding. Forwarded emails may include sender and recipient addresses and supported attachments. Generated audio and cover artwork are stored so you can listen later.
Our infrastructure may process technical information such as IP addresses, request times, device or browser details and error logs to deliver and protect the service.
Why we process it
We use this information to sign you in, create and deliver episodes, maintain your feeds, respond to support requests and prevent misuse. Account and content processing is necessary to provide the service you request. Security and operational processing relies on our legitimate interest in running a reliable service. Where a feature requires consent, you can withdraw that consent.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your submitted content for advertising or make decisions with legal or similarly significant effects about you through automated profiling.
AI and other service providers
We send narration scripts to OpenAI to generate speech. Our hosting and storage providers, including Hetzner and Cloudflare, process the data needed to run the app and deliver media. Resend handles sign-in emails and, when enabled, forwarded email intake. Google processes your sign-in if you choose Google login.
If you connect an AI client or agent, information needed for the tools you authorize is exchanged with that client. Agent preparation can share the submitted source material with your chosen agent. Podcast apps receive the feeds and audio you ask them to subscribe to. Those services also have their own privacy policies.
Providers may process information outside your country, including outside the European Economic Area. Contact us for details about the providers, processing locations and transfer safeguards applicable to your data.
Unlisted feeds and audio links
Your feeds use hard-to-guess links and are not listed in a public directory. However, anyone with a feed or audio link can access it without signing in. Audio and artwork are delivered through publicly accessible, unlisted URLs. Podcast apps may download, cache or copy them. Keep these links private and avoid submitting highly sensitive information.
Resetting a feed link does not revoke audio links already shared. Deleting an episode removes its audio from our active storage, but copies held by players, caches or other recipients may remain.
Website analytics
We use Plausible Analytics to understand visits to our public website, such as which guides people read and which sites refer visitors. Tracking requests go through our Cloudflare proxy. Plausible does not use analytics cookies, and we do not send account identifiers, submitted text, episode details or private feed addresses to it.
Analytics is limited to the homepage, public guides and legal pages. Query strings, URL fragments and referrer paths are removed before sending pageviews. Sign-in, your listening library, account pages, private feeds and API routes are excluded. We use aggregate website statistics to improve the service; see Plausible’s data policy for its processing details.
Cookies and retention
We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and support authentication. The current prototype does not use advertising cookies.
We retain your account, submitted content, scripts and media while needed to provide your account and listening history, unless you delete them or request account deletion. Limited records may remain where needed for security, legal obligations or resolving disputes. Backup copies and service-provider records may take longer to expire under their retention practices.
Your choices and rights
You can delete episodes and export your account data from the app. You can also disconnect an agent or stop sharing a feed. For account deletion, corrections, access or other privacy requests, contact us using your account email.
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, erase or transfer your data, restrict or object to processing, withdraw consent where we rely on it, and complain to your local data protection authority. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal.
Updates
We may update this policy as the service changes. We will update the date above and notify you of material changes where required. Our Terms of Service explain the conditions for using SimpleListen.
